LIFE IS FOR LIVING

The interest in food and wellbeing is very high profile, causing everyone to consider what they are eating and how bad habits affect their lives. Barbara Louvrou has been in the health and lifestyle sector for some years and has built up her business on advising and coaching people to take more care of themselves.

Food is a major cause of lack of motivation, tiredness, depression, stress and sickness in our society and is a signal that readily available foods may have low or non-existent nutritional value. In the long term this situation creates irreparable damage, not only to the individual, but it may cost business millions of pounds.

Barbara started her training as a beauty therapist and after working in London and abroad, set up her own beauty therapy business. She then branched out to work in the leisure industry and realised the link between good looks and good living. Further training in coaching, business management and nutrition followed, until she set up her own company The Wellworks in 2005.

Her work with individuals, teams and companies includes producing nutritional and weightloss programmes, Barbara aims to educate people through coaching to improve their eating habits, and subsequently to improve their health. The benefits to companies will increase productivity levels, reduce sickness and absenteeism and produce an overall climate of wellbeing and more enjoyable workplace environments.

Barbara will analyse/audit any problems within the workplace (stress levels, sickness, reasons for absenteeism) and offer workshops for employees and employers.
These can take the form of one-to-one sessions for people in need of extra help with diet and to instill healthier habits, or on a broader scale evaluate the food offered by the canteens, vending machines and recommend healthy alternatives.

Barbara says, " In my business I educate people to take responsibility for their health, helping them to understand food, take control of it and by adopting better eating habits and a healthy lifestyle, enable them to live longer and improve the quality of their lives."

WellWorks has been involved with projects for The Royal School for the Deaf, and a government project 'Sport for Life'. Barbara's work has attracted interest from the police force, a football academy, the NHS and schools. She has done talks for radio, produced editorial features for magazines and talks to associations and groups.

Barbara wants to use her expertise in the health sector and will work with companies on all aspects related to food, offering a regular service to employers and employees.
